Official Interpretive Center of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area
Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center Museum
Exhibits include the culture of the first people and their contact with other cultures; emigration to and development of the West; harvesting of natural resources; and natural history, including the geology, botany and entomology of the area. The museum is also home to a renowned rosary collection.
Gorge Heritage Museum
Discovers, preserves, and disseminates knowledge about the history of Western Klickitat County and Eastern Skamania County. Website includes histories, biographies, many photos, and links to other sites. Museum exhibits include tools, furnishings, clothes, photos, and a Country Store.
International Carousel Museum
The museum is temporarily closed while they relocate, but the website includes extensive information and resources on antique carousels.
Maryhill Museum of Art
Beaux Arts mansion on 5,300 acres above the Columbia River in the Eastern Gorge. World-class permanent collection includes works by Auguste Rodin, European and American paintings, objects d’art from the palaces of the Queen of Romania, Orthodox icons, unique chess sets, the renowned Théâtre de la Mode, and outdoor sculpture garden, and an extensive Native American collection representing nearly every tradition and style in North America from prehistoric through contemporary times. The Stonehenge Memorial, a life-sized replica of Stonehenge, and the Maryhill Loops Road are nearby. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and an official site of the National Historic Lewis and Clark Trail.
The History Museum
Over a hundred years ago, members of the Hood River County Pioneer Society began collecting documents and artifacts that represented the unique and diverse culture of Hood River County. That collection lives on today at The History Museum, with special exhibits featuring everyday memorabilia from all walks of life and community culture.
Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum
WAAAM has one of the largest collections of still-flying antique airplanes and still-driving antique automobiles in the country. Aircraft, automobiles, motorcycles, tractors, military jeeps and engines all get their day in the sun again at WAAAM.
